Open house at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On October 28th 2018, the Czech Republic marked the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the independent Czechoslovak state. Many government buildings, museums and landmarks were open for free and held open house events. I visited the Černín Palace, the seat of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then went on a short walk through Malá Strana to Charles Bridge.

The line for money

To mark the 100th anniversary to the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic released a special coin: a 20-crowns-coin with portraits of Masaryk, Beneš, and Štefánik - the three founding fathers of the republic. Even though the coins will come into normal circulation within a month, hundreds are standing in line to be among the firsts to grab them at the Czech National Bank in Prague. For the third day now, people gather as early as 5am, some standing in lines until closing time. Every one is allowed to get a max. of 3 coins with each portrait.
